Emergency / Critical Care

Garden State Veterinary Specialists is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Dr. Katharine Palmer heads the Emergency/Critical Care Service and is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Emergency/Critical Care. She became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency/Critical Care in 2001. Kate supervises the critical care cases in the Intensive Care Unit and manages the emergency cases that are referred to our hospital.

Katharine Palmer, DVM
Diplomate ACVIM, ACVECC (Emergency and Critical Care)

A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine since 1999, Kate is a graduate of the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Palmer completed an internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City and a residency at the University of Pennsylvania's emergency service and intensive care unit with primary responsibility for the unit's cases. Kate became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care in 2001.

Susan Meeking, DVM
Diplomate ACVIM, ACVECC

Susan is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine since 2007 and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care since 2008. Dr. Meeking is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Before joining the staff of GSVS as a Criticalist, she was on the staff of the Animal Medical Center in New York City where she also completed her internship and residency.

Paul Corrente, DVM

Paul is a 2003 graduate of Ross University. Dr. Corrente completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City in 2003. He joined the Emergency Department at GSVS in 2004.

Judith E. Hone, DVM

Judy is a 2004 graduate of Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hone completed an internship at GSVS in 2005. She joined the Emergency Department of GSVS in 2006.

Christian Charlton, DVM - Practice Limited to Emergency/Critical Care, DVM

Christian is a 2005 graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He also completed a Small Animal Internship at the Animal Medical Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
